Two Modern Gypsies

A pit stop in Balerma

With Christmas coming up fast it was time to leave Costa Blanca and head to Costa del Sol and Marbella. We had decided to celebrate Christmas in Marbella together with our climbing friends Chris & Dick and also to meet some of Miriam’s family. The drive to Marbella was too far, so we had to take a pit stop on the way, and chose to stay the weekend in Balerma.

We had some beautiful days in Balerma. We were spending much time on the beach, both running and walking. Smula loves to run in the sand catching sticks and barking at us, throwing stones in the water. We even brought some bags to pick up trash along the beach.

Breathtaking view from the beach to the beautiful mountains Sierra Nevada covered in snow.

Having the best time of his life:P

The beach in Balerma is really beautiful, but it was heartbreaking to witness all the plastic coming from the sea. In only 15 minutes, within 100m we had already filled our bags.

Camping Mar Azul

We enjoyed our stay at this campsite. The staff was service minded and friendly and even gave Christmas flowers to all their guests.

  • Friendly staff.
  • Excellent and well-marked pitches on gravel. Large enough for our caravan.
  • ACSI discount (electricity: remember that you only have 4kw included in the price).
  • The campsite is close to and has easy access to the beach.
  • Very good and clean sanitary facilities.
  • Good wifi connection.
